ARTISTICO E DANZA: Oro Kostner a Shanghai

Dopo il primo posto al termine del Corto, Carolina Kostner si conferma nel Libero e vince con ampio margine l’ISU Grand Prix Cup of China a Shanghai. Un fantastico oro conquistato con 182.14 punti davanti alla statunitense Mirai Nagasu (173.22) e alla russa Adelina Sotnikova. Entrambe hanno mantenuto le posizioni acquisite dopo il Corto. La seconda Azzurra in compeizione, Valentina Marchei, ha chiuso la sua prova al nono posto, dopo il settimo del Corto, con 133.86 punti. Successo dell’atleta degli USA Jeremy Abbott con 228.49 nella gara individuale maschile, mentre nella Danza primo posto finale per la coppia russa Ekaterina Bobrova/Dmitri Soloviev con 163.52. Mirai Nagasu (USA) picked up the silver and the bronze went to Russia’s Adelina Sotnikova. Kostner landed four clean triples and only did a three-turn out of the last triple Salchow. The three-time European Champion earned a level four for all spins and level three for the footwork to score a seasons best of 120.26 points. Overall she racked up 182.14 points. After finishing second at Hilton HHonours Skate America, Kostner is qualified for the Grand Prix Final. “I am so relieved to make it to the Grand Prix Final”, the World bronze medallist said. “Usually I struggle with consistency early in the season. The scores in this competition give me confidence that my programs have been accepted”, she continued. Nagasu’s routine to “Spartacus” included three clean triples but both Lutzes were underrotated. The 18-year-old posted a seasons best with 112.26 points and remained in second place at 173.22. “Coming off a bad skate at Skate Canada was very hard for me, because I really wanted to make it to the Final this year, but you might know that when I came to the Cup of China previously I did very well in the short program and then dropped to fourth place. To break that curse is such a huge relief to me. Coming here and skating well I’m just happy and ready for my next competition”, Nagasu explained. Sotnikova opened her program to “Liebestraum” with a triple Lutz-triple loop combination and hit three more triples, but stumbled on both double Axels. The World Junior Champion collected 106.21 points and won the bronze in her debut at the senior Grand Prix with 159.95 points. “Overall I am not so pleased with my performance today, but I am happy about the triple Lutz-triple loop combination that I did. Some other elements didn’t work out and in my next competition I want to do everything as planned”, 15-year-old Sotnikova noted. Kexin Zhang (CHN) moved up from fifth to fourth (153.32 points) and Christina Gao (USA) pulled up from eighth to fifth with 152.48 points”.
